Along with the tasty supper came another notable bottle of wine, the Martin Ray Cabernet Sauvignon - 2005.
This wine is medium bodied for a Napa Valley Cab and does not smack you over the head with a ripe fruit flavors (although they are certainly prevalent). On the nose a perfume of red cherry, and plum presides. Once in the mouth, one will notice firm tannins, well integrated oak flavors of toast and vanilla along with red fruit. The wine finishes nicely with a spiciness I attribute to the 20 months spent aging in French oak. At about $21 a bottle this wine can hold its own with wines in higher price categories."
